Filmmaker
finds paranormal activity at Whitefish Point
Houghton MI - Don Hermanson of
Keweenaw Video Productions has released a new DVD documentary
featuring the Upper Peninsula Paranormal Research Society
(U.P.P.R.S.). The U.P.P.R.S. is a professional
paranormal research team from Sault Ste.Marie Michigan and an
official family member of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS)
from the Sci-Fi channel’s “Ghost Hunters.”
They had seen Hermanson’s work on the paranormal and contacted
him about filming some of their investigations. In May 2007
Hermanson, producer of four DVDs on unexplained phenomena, met the
U.P.P.R.S. team at the Whitefish Point Shipwreck Museum on
Lake Superior to document their work and subsequently created the new
DVD titled "Ghost Hunting with the U.P.P.R.S.”
While
filming Investigation #1 in the Shipwreck Museum,
Hermanson’s camera recorded audio of what is believed to be a
women's voice, clearly heard on the tape and by two witnesses.
Several team members also had personal experiences in the museum and
other buildings on the grounds. Tim Ellis, founder and field
director of the U.P.P.R.S. team said, "I myself as well as other
members had several personal experiences at the light station; and
high EMF readings in several spots confirm the possible presence of
paranormal activity."
Several
workers and visitors to the Shipwreck Museum complex have reported
seeing ghostly images or hearing footsteps in upstairs rooms and
other unexplained noises. Will Gravelle, a worker at the complex, has
witnessed several paranormal events and said he believes Whitefish
Point is definitely haunted. Other workers appearing in the video
also describe their personal paranormal experiences.
Accompanying
the U.P.P.R.S. team was noted writer Frederick Stonehouse, author of
the "Haunted Lakes" book series and researcher of
paranormal phenomena. Stonehouse documented the investigation for an
article in “Lake Superior Magazine.”
Several
weeks after documenting the group, Hermanson returned to Whitefish
Point to experience heavy weather and film the complex after dark.
Reporting on his findings, he said, “After dark I roamed the
grounds with my night-vision camera, videotaping and listening to
things in the night. Something was certainly there - it's a very
spooky place after dark. I randomly shot the buildings, focusing on
the windows and hoping to catch someone inside. While reviewing tape
from my camera, I came across these very strange objects moving about
inside the lighthouse. What ever they are - you can decide."
Also
included in this documentary with the U.P.P.R.S. team is a live
broadcast recorded from 99.5FM in Sault Ste. Marie on the night
before Halloween. The broadcast was documented on video from the
Antlers, a popular local restaurant with over 100 years of rich
history, including curious activities that took place on the site.
Investigation #2 is called "Halloween in the Bucket of
Blood."
